Christmas in Pork Land, Central Jersey

People need pork roll. It's part of so many family traditions. It is addicting, and apparently a taste you never forget, even 50 years after you've left Jersey for greener, or sandier pastures.

I do have a life outside of pork roll, really, I do. It just seems like all I do is eat, breathe, sell, pack, and ship pork roll. In fact, Christmas in MY house won't contain any Taylor Ham except for everyone in the extended family happens to be getting a gift basket laden with little Taylor's. But I'm not cooking, serving, or eating any that day. Yep, a pork-less Holiday for me.

Oh wait.. Pa is making a spiral ham for Christmas Eve.. argghh.

Running A Business or Running From Business the Kate Way

We're all Jersey Girls, we all love pork roll, and all of our names start with K. It seems almost all of the female in our family and a few close friends are all K's.

Except for "The Bird" and he's a guy, otherwise known as Ferdie.

Assistant Pork Packers K3 (she can easily lift 60 lbs of pork roll at once!)
Gel Packing Princess K7
Head Shipping Clerk - Ween aka K2
Stay Ahead of the Accountant/IRS Bookeeper Clerk - also Ween K2
Call Center Operator/Printer/Technician/Pain in the Butt "did you recheck that order??" - Me aka K1 (as the oldest, I took claim to K1. Kelly being the youngest comes in at K7)

Of course Ween is amazing. I think she demoted me from owner/boss because she gets along so well with Vinnie, the truck driver, and because she finds toll receipts stuck in my TV Guide and threatens me with the thought of Steve "The Accountant" moving in for a month or so.

Real names have been deleted and K 1 -7 will have to do. The girls swear they'll kill me if they have to start saying "we pack pork" for a living. : )
